Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Lens | Contemporary Nikon Z

The Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary is an all-in-one zoom lens designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras, offering an impressive 18.8x zoom ratio that covers everything from wide-angle to super-telephoto. With a 35mm-equivalent focal range of approximately 24-450mm, it gives photographers the flexibility to capture landscapes, portraits, travel, wildlife, sports and more without changing lenses.

The lens also offers impressive close-up capability, reaching a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at 70mm. A high-speed HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) provides fast, smooth and accurate autofocus, while Sigma's OS2 optical stabilization algorithm delivers up to 6 stops of stabilization at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end. Despite its expansive zoom range, the lens remains compact and portable, making it an ideal everyday or travel lens for photographers who want maximum versatility from a single lens.

Key Features

  • Wide-Angle to Super-Telephoto in One Lens
The Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary offers an approximately 18.8x zoom ratio, covering a 35mm-equivalent focal range of approximately 24-450mm. This extensive range makes it possible to photograph everything from sweeping landscapes and everyday snapshots to portraits, sports and distant wildlife without needing to change lenses.

Its wide zoom range makes the lens especially useful for travel and everyday photography, where portability and flexibility are important. Photographers can move quickly from wide-angle scenes to super-telephoto subjects while carrying a single lens.

  • Impressive Close-Up Capability
In addition to its expansive zoom range, the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a focal length of 70mm, making it well suited for detailed close-up photography.

The lens also provides useful close-up performance throughout the zoom range, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3 at 16mm and 1:4 at 300mm. This gives photographers added flexibility for everything from tabletop subjects and environmental close-ups to subjects that are difficult to approach outdoors.

  •
  • High-Speed Autofocus & Powerful Optical Stabilization
The autofocus system uses Sigma's HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) to provide fast, smooth and accurate focusing. This makes the lens well suited for fast-moving subjects such as wildlife, sports, birds and aircraft, while also helping photographers respond quickly to everyday moments.

Sigma's OS2 optical stabilization algorithm provides up to 6 stops of stabilization at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end. This helps reduce the effects of camera shake when shooting handheld, particularly in dim lighting or at longer focal lengths where camera movement can become more noticeable.

  •
  • Compact Design with Uncompromising Optical Performance
Despite its extensive zoom range, the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary maintains a compact, portable design. The Nikon Z-mount version measures approximately 73.8mm in diameter by 125.4mm long and weighs approximately 630g, making it practical for travel, everyday photography and situations where carrying multiple lenses may not be convenient.

The optical construction includes one FLD glass element, four SLD glass elements and four aspherical elements. Their effective arrangement helps correct various optical aberrations and maintain consistent image quality throughout the zoom and focusing range.

  •
  • Built for Everyday Use
The lens features a dust- and splash-resistant structure along with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element. A zoom lock switch helps keep the lens secured at the wide end while carrying it, and the supplied petal-type lens hood helps reduce unwanted light from entering the lens.

For Nikon Z cameras, the lens also supports AF-C continuous autofocus and compatible in-camera aberration correction, helping it integrate naturally with the Nikon Z system.
