Overview

Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary Mirrorless Lens Fujifilm

The Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary is a compact, large-aperture telephoto zoom lens designed specifically for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Covering approximately 75-180mm in 35mm equivalent terms, it combines a versatile telephoto range with a constant F2.8 aperture, uncompromising optical performance and impressive portability. Its compact body is just 99mm long and weighs approximately 390g, making it an ideal choice for photographers who want telephoto reach without the size and weight of a typical full-frame F2.8 zoom.

A high-speed HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) provides fast autofocus, while Sigma's OS2 optical stabilization algorithm delivers up to 6.5 stops of stabilization at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end. The lens also features an optical design that minimizes focus breathing, making it well suited for both still photography and video. From portraits and events to indoor sports, product photography and everyday telephoto work, the 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary delivers a powerful combination of mobility, performance and creative control.

Key Features

  • Compact, Lightweight Telephoto Zoom
The Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary combines a highly versatile telephoto zoom range of approximately 75-180mm in 35mm equivalent terms with a constant F2.8 aperture in an exceptionally compact body. At just 99mm long and approximately 390g for the Sony E-mount version, it delivers the reach and performance photographers expect from a large-aperture telephoto zoom while taking full advantage of the portability of an APS-C camera system.

With the addition of the 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary, Sigma's APS-C constant F2.8 zoom series now covers everything from ultra-wide-angle to telephoto. Together with the 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary and 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary, the three-lens system covers approximately 15-180mm in 35mm equivalent terms while weighing less than 1kg.

  •
  • Uncompromising Optical Performance
The optical construction combines one FLD glass element, three SLD glass elements and four aspherical elements to achieve high optical performance while maintaining compact dimensions. Various optical aberrations are corrected throughout the zoom range to deliver exceptionally high contrast from the center of the frame to the edges.

The telephoto range also provides the pronounced background blur and compression that make longer focal lengths so useful for portraits, events and other subject-focused photography. At the 120mm end, photographers can take advantage of an approximately 180mm full-frame equivalent angle of view while maintaining the lens's bright F2.8 maximum aperture.

  •
  • Optical Stabilization & High-Speed Autofocus
A high-speed HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) provides fast, precise autofocus, while Sigma's OS2 optical stabilization algorithm delivers 6.5 stops of stabilization at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end. Together, these technologies help support sharp, confident handheld shooting in demanding situations, including indoor events, sports and other telephoto applications.

The lens also features a dust- and splash-resistant structure, along with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element, helping photographers continue working in challenging outdoor environments.

  •
  • Designed for Both Stills & Video
The optical design minimizes focus breathing, suppressing changes in angle of view as focus shifts. This allows for more natural-looking focus transitions and helps maintain consistent composition when recording video.

Despite its advanced functionality, the lens uses a clean, intuitive control layout. A streamlined design eliminates several external switches while retaining direct control through the zoom ring, focus ring and aperture ring, helping keep the lens compact and straightforward to operate.
