Tamron 16-50mm f/2.8 A Nikon Z

Tamron’s 16-50mm F2.8 A (Model B091) is a new compact standard zoom built for APS-C mirrorless photographers who want a fast, constant F2.8 aperture without the size or price of a high-spec lens.

It starts at 16mm, wider than most compact F2.8 zooms in this class, so it covers landscapes, group shots, travel, and everyday video in one lens while still delivering the soft bokeh users are looking for when stepping up from a kit lens. Measuring just over 3 inches in length, it is the smallest F2.8 standard zoom in Tamron’s mirrorless lineup and priced as an accessible step up from a kit lens, rather than a premium alternative to the 17-70mm F/2.8 VC.

• Compact and Lightweight Design
  Engineered with 14 premium lens elements in 10 groups ( 2 Glass Molded Aspherical (GM), 1 Low Dispersion (LD), 2 Hybrid Aspherical (ASL)), the 16-50mm F2.8 A achieves an optimal balance of optical design and refined mechanical engineering to deliver a remarkably lightweight and compact lens.
  
  Despite its wide field of view, the 16-50mm F2.8 A weighs only 10.8 oz (305g) for Sony E-mount and measures just 3.2” (79.6mm) in length, making it an ideal companion for compact APS-C camera bodies.
   
• Fast, Accurate VXD Autofocus
  The VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor delivers high-speed, high-precision autofocus with quiet operation for both still photography and video applications.

• Excellent Close-Focusing Performance
  With a minimum object distance of just 6” (0.15m) at 16mm & 11.5” (0.29m) at 50mm, photographers can effortlessly frame close-up subjects with broad backgrounds, leveraging the wide-angle perspective to expand creative options or create intimate portraits framed by soft mid-telephoto bokeh.

  Compatible with TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile & TAMRON-LINK users can customize lens functions, streamline video workflows, and personalize operation directly through the USB-C connection.
  
  As of September 2026 only Sony and Nikon mount versions are compatible with TLU Mobile; Canon mount version is compatible with TLU for PC for firmware updates only.
